ALS visit to the leading pharmaceutical distribution center in sweden
In October 2019, followed by Inter Airport Europe in Munich, ALS took a part at official site visits at the modern and innovative pharmaceutical hub sin Europe.
ALS team has visited Oriola Disribution center in Sweden. Oriola owns the third largest pharmacy chain, Kronans Apotek, with over 320 pharmacies. Their sales in 2018 reached EUR 1.5 billion. The company has 2 600 employees.
Similarly to other wholesalers in Europe, for Oriola the efficient supply chain is the basis of operations. In their distribution centers they handle thousands of SKUs per day ensuring the medicines to be delivered to the pharmacies and hospitals within 24 hours. Oriola follows the GDPs (Good Distribution Practice) according to the EU law.
Oriola modernized their distribution center in Enkoping with the latest automation. The new system fulfills the requirements of the customers more efficiently. The OSR Shuttle system has 4 aisles and 5 Pick-it-Easy stations (goods-to-person). The fast movers items are located at the A-frames and picked automatically into a central belt and automatically placed in an order tote.
